Instructions
1.Solder the Op Amp to the circuit board, near the
tp edge, with three empty rows available for the LEDs.
Solder only the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 pins. Pin 1 is indicated
by a circle on the Op Amp.
2.Make a solder path from Pin 4 to the bottom of the
circuit board and along the bottom edge. This will
form the Ground.
3.Make a solder path from Pin 2 that goes down two
rows. This will be bridged by a resistor in the next step.
4.Solder a 10K resistor (R13) just below the Op Amp
with the leads aligned with Pin 1 and Pin 3. The resistor
should bridge over the solder path from Pin 2.
5.Make solder paths that connect R13 to Pin 1 and
Pin 3.
6.Extend the solder path from Pin 3 approximately
three more rows and solder a 10K resistor (R12) so that
it bridges the path from Pin 4. Make a solder path that
connects R12 to Pin 8 of the Op Amp.
7.Solder a 10K resistor (R5) connecting the end of
the solder path from Pin 3 to the Ground.
8.Solder a 1K resistor (R3) downward from the solder
path from Pin 2.
9.Solder a 4.7K resistor (R11) left from the solder
path from Pin 1.
10.Solder a 10K resistor (R10) left from the R3.
Align the ends of R10 and R11, and solder a path to
connect them.
11.Solder a .001uF capacitor (C3) to R3. Make a solder
path to connect C3 to the Ground.
12.Solder a .1 uF capacitor (C2) to the right of the
Ground. Solder C2 to R12.
13.Solder a .1 uF capacitor (C1) to the left from Pin 1.
14.Solder a 10K resistor (R9) down from the open
lead of C1. Make a solder path to the Ground.
15.Solder a 10K resistor (R8) up from the open lead of
C1. Make a solder path to Pin 8 of the Op Amp.
16.The transistor has three leads: Collector, Base and
Emitter. Insert the transistor into the circuit board with
the ?at side facing the Op Amp. This places the Collector
toward the top edge of the circuit board and the Emitter
toward the bottom edge.
17.Solder the transistor’s Base (center lead) to C1.
18.Make solder paths to connect the transistor’s Emitter
to the Ground below R9.
19.Insert a 10 ohm resistor (R7) along the top edge of
the circuit board, aligning one end with the transistor.
Solder the resistor in place and make a solder path
connecting it to the transistor’s Collector.
20.Bend and solder the two IR LEDs (D1 and D2) to the
circuit board so that they face outward from the board,
side-by-side. Leave the leads long enough to extend
from the board. The ?at sides (and shorter leads) of D1
and D2 must be on the side closest to R7.
21.Make a solder path from left lead of D1 to R7; make
a solder path from the right lead of D1 to the left lead of
D2; make a solder path from the right lead of D2 to the
solder path from Pin 8 of the Op Amp.
22.Drill a 7/64-inch hole in one end of the project box.
Insert the red and black battery holder wires into the
hole. Solder the red wire to C2 away from the Ground,
and solder the black wire to the Ground.
23.Place the IR Jammer into the project box with the
LEDs facing opposite the hole for the battery holder
wires to identify where to drill openings for the LEDs.
24.Drill two 13/64-inch holes in the project box, insert
the IR jammer into the box, aligning the LEDs with the
two holes, and seal the box.
25.Install 4 “AAA” batteries, ?ip the battery holder
switch to “on” and point the IR LEDs in line of sight to
any IR sensor.
