Teams
« on: July 02, 2007, 06:53:22 AM »
Ok, so last night about 10:30(eastern standard time) I hatched an Idea. If 2 or more people each did the same  robot at the same time, they could completely help each other throughout the entire process. If one runs into a problem, another can get him/her out of it. Anyway this topic is for posting your Ideas and waiting for a team/teammate or looking for a team/teammate with good Ideas. once you have your team, put both your names together and start a new topic (ex: John52&Excelsior's Robot process) and communicate there.  :P
P.S- Other members may post in your topic, but most likely they will be nothing but help! ;D

Ok, I'll go first: I'm looking for a teamate who wants to make this:

all material will be wood (if possible)- I'm using pine (pretty heavy)- If the person whom wants to team with me has a better Idea, please tell me it in our new topic(please leave this topic strictly for members looking for teamates).
Thankyou,

Mega

I think that's a great idea, since I'm good with mechanics and ok with electronics, but suck at programming.

So, do you want to post an Idea or be my teammate?

Megaman - is there room for one more?  I'd like to join in as well...

I recently purchased a bunch of parts from www.phenostream.com  the scale of their building materials is really small (personally, I like small, but it may be too small for some).

In terms of a gripper design, I have looked at http://www.budgetrobotics.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=135 and http://mivasecure.abac.com/bpatton/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RS&Product_Code=GKWOS&Category_Code=RPAM as simple ideas to copy... Parallax also sells one (http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28202), but seems mechanically "overengineered"

There's infinite room- post your Ideas and possibly get a team/teamate. Unless you mean going with my design- in that case yes you can join and if ed wants to do so also, I guess there's room for three. :P If that's the case, I'll go ahead and start a new topic called MegaSteve....

any of the adults got any idea?

you each build 2 if there are two of you. You share information if you run into a problem, find a good website to buy the item off of, and pretty much try to buy the same things. When done, if you can, videotape it running/ take a picture of it. ;D

What if 1 of the teammates is poor on the $$$ and the other one got plenty to use?
So one can only afford "bad" parts and the other one gets better microcontrollers, servos all of that?
How to build a biped bot:

Hmmmm I really like this idea.

And the two people dont need to have the same exact robot. For example, if you use the same parts (same microcontroller, servos, same battery voltages, etc.) but not the same design, a huge amount of collaboration would be possible.

Very similar schematics, very similar code, very similar motor control, etc . . .

Its sort of like the $50 robot - everyone will have their own design, yet its similar enough that everyone can help each other. This is why all my robots will use the $50 robot controller, basically a common platform with common code and common components. It is also why I created the member written tutorials.
