power to the bot

I have a 10.8 volt, NI-CD 1200 mAH battery that i want to power my arduino based robot i tried a LM7805ACT
5v Linear Regulator but the battery burns the Regulator and SN754410NEh-bridge
i did some reading on Ohm's Law but iam lost can someone help me

How exactly did you connect things?
(Hard to say what went wrong if you keep that a secret ;))

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

Since you seem to like posting the same thing on multiple forums, since you are powering the H-bridge from the regualtor, my guess is you are overloading the regulator.

Are your motors 5V as well? or 12V motors?

12V motors


ok i found out why the regulator burned
but i want to use the battery to power the arduino and the SN754410NE h-bridge
the motors need more then 5v can i power the SN754410N with the battery with out burning it
the SN754410NE can take 5v to 12v can someone tell me how to connect the SN754410NE to the battery
and the arduino with out the regulator

Take a look at the datasheet.  If I remember correctly, Vcc1 is logic voltage (regulated +5v), while Vcc2 is motor voltage (direct from battery).  Look up tutorials for the L293D - it has the same pinout on the chip, and is more well documented.  Have fun, and good luck!

ok i got the robot to run 2 different ways

1.the arduino is powered by a 9v battery and the SN754410NE is powered by the 10.8 v battery
2.the arduino and SN754410NE powerd by the 10.8 v battery

but the bot moves very slow both ways
the motor are from a rc car how to give the motor more power
i had to change the drive motor on the car because  i connected the 10.8 v battery to the motor and it fried
