Title: Question about Atmega 8 IC chip on $50 robot
Post by: Armouralis on November 07, 2008, 04:23:53 PM
hey guys,

i have a question about  which atmega8 IC chip to get because there are 5 different ones.  I am using furturlec.com and this is the link to the atmega microcontrollers:
http://www.futurlec.com/ICAtmel.shtml

which IC is the one that is used in the $50 robot?

please is possible give me the part number.
is it:
ATMEGA8-16PC
ATMEGA8L-8PI
ATMEGA8L-8PU
ATMEGA88-20PU
ATMEGA88V-10PI

edit:

Or should I get the Atmega16?
ATMEGA168V-10PI
its only like a few more dollars, and I want to upgrade the controler.
THANK YOU in advance :)

also i would like to reuse the chip that i get for the $50 for a little more advanced programming.
What i am asking is the chip that you are suggesting can be used for more advanced programming?
Would the ATMEGA168V-10PI serve the purpose?
Is it diffrent than using the ATMEGA8 chip?  Cuz they both have 28 pins

The part number is in the $50 Robot tutorial.

Also, if you open up the datasheets for each, you can tell the difference between each of those chips. (I could just tell you, but its a skill you need to learn as a budding robot builder :P)
