study people with robots?
« on: September 29, 2007, 05:34:43 PM »
Im sure many of you have seen this robot already . . . but I really like this video . . .

Would anyone be interested in having a 'robot invasion day'? Meaning, everyone takes their robots out into the public, and you record peoples reactions to the robot?

I remember I once had this remote control robot that moves around with claws, and so I RC'd it from far away so no one could see me, just the robot. I remember having it move up to this girl (she watched it curiously) . . . and as soon as it touched her shoe, she screamed! hehe, wish I had that on tape . . .

I think it would be funny for everyone to post their videos together in one post . . .

If anyone has a robot and a video camera that is interested, let me know and we could arrange for a particular day. Might be a good publicity stunt to get more 'normal' people interested in robotics . . .

hehe I loved the video, I hadn't seen it already.

I'm not sure if I'd want my robot unprotected (RC or not) in a public place.
Dogs, small children, dumb children, etc. could inflict damage to my precious robot :(

Even people who don't mean to harm it, could easily break something anyway... You know how curious people want to touch and feel stuff.

I'm in, if the timing is right. We are working on a hexapod as a school project. And as soon as the body is constructed it would be a blast to RC it among people to see their reactions. Im guessing we wont be finished before Christmas though...
