How to use this module with the axon?
« on: August 09, 2011, 06:11:26 PM »
I was wondering how you use this module with the axon?  I'm not exactly sure how to use this.  Whats the other parts needed so I can use this?

I've made some edits to this thread . . . everyone, please save the flaming for the Personal Messaging system ;D

Sylvestre, as I skim through the datasheet, it doesn't appear you need anything else. You can directly hook it up to the Axon.

You simply hook up power and the UART:

WebbotLib will help you with the UART.

thank you Admin.  As I read over the datasheet again, I saw that if I wanted to transmit live real time video this modem would only transmit a few a frames per second.  If I'm correct (am I correct?  ???), is there some sort of alternative route I can take?

The XTend Modem is for transmitting data packets . . . video requires huge amounts of data.

If you want to transmit video, you are best off using a wireless camera w/transmitter :P

If your robot is in an area with wireless internet, you can use a webcam + skype (or whatever) on your bot . . . you said you were going to have a laptop on it, right?

No not on it.  Basically I'm creating a search and rescue robot.  It'll be like a fireman's assistant.  Sorry about the other topic.  You can delete that.  Would a router work or something similar?
