(An advanced line following robot with PID control | Member Robot ...)
now am trying to build ur pid control line follower robot....
i am just a beginer in this, so i find it pretty difficult to follow certain things in that pls help me with it.........
1.didn't find any circuit diagram
2.don't know frm where to take the wires frm sensor array
3.could not find out how to connect lcd.....
4. preset's value in sensor not mentioned
5.wat preset to be used in the main board
6.8 male header pins without a caption
7.couldn't understand "ss","sr","sy"............
8.lcd power?
pls help me with this.........
it will be of great use to me for using it in competitions...
pls reply
thanx in advance

1. The circuit is quite simple. Just see the PCB layout and you will know what goes where.
2. Wires from the sensor array are connected to pin 4(Gnd) and pin 11(5V) of the LM324 and to its outputs - pin 1, 7, 8 an d14;
3. LCD connections are clearly shown in the PCB layout and described in the source code as well.
4 and 5. You can use any preset.
6. I put these pins on the board for any future additions to the robot, you can ignore these pins.
7. These pins are connected to the regulated 5V and Gnd. Ignore the naming.
8. As shown in the PCB layout pin 1 - Gnd, pin 2 - Vcc, pin 3 - contrast(It will be printed on the backside of your LCD).

i did all the connections as in the instructions........
but when i connect the to the 9 volt battery , i don't find any thing on the lcd screen ???
(main circuit and sensor circuit are connected together to the battery)
1.i didn't connect the led backlight for lcd to any power source.. is dat a problem?
or can i connect the 5Y for lcd backlight's power source?
2.wat r the uses of presets in this circuit?
3.does the pins between the lcd array and sensor array be kept open?
4.i kept all the pins (5Y, SS,SA)
5.is there any way to check the lcd display?
6.pls suggest sm troubleshooting tips................
am new to this robotics....... ( i hav just done the $40 line follower)
if u can pls help me......... :'(
only if i get this right i will hav confidence to do other projects..
thanks in advance.....

dreamrunner, from your previous posts and the loads of PMs you have sent me, I can see that you are quite new to robotics. Building a PID line follower will be quite tough. My suggestion to you would be to first try to build the $50 robot and then move on to the PID line follower.
Ok, the answer to your question - I guess you have not programmed the microcontroller, have you?

is there any way to check wether the lcd is working?
and
yup i hav programmed microcontroler..................
well pulling back frm this project is quiet cowardly act.... coz i hav spent a lot of time on this....... and am not moving to any other projects without finishing this off.....
if u can help me, it wud be great........
else its fine sir........

hi there........
1.is there any way that i can get a circuit diagram for the project.....?
it will be great use for finding the errors in what i hav build...
2. pls suggest a link that contains all details to build a programmer circuit?
3. dosen't this microcontroler require a crystal?
thanx in advance

Is your sensor board not working or is your main board not working ?
Try googling - "serial programmer for AVR" you will find plenty of designs. You can rather buy one.
The microcontroller uses its internal crystal so no need of any external crystal.
-
my main board is not working.
as u said ,first letme see wether my programmer supports avr atmega series.
when i connect to the power, i don't find anything in the lcd.
( i connected the lcd as per its datasheet, i left the pins 7-10 and 16 open)

@dreamrunner
I am also a newbie...
I hope these are correct...
LCD MCU
1(Vss) GND
2(Vdd) +5v
3(Vee) Contrast
4(RS) 26(PC4)
5(RW) 27(PC5)
6(E) 28(PC6)
7(D0) ---
8(D1) ---
9(D2) ---
10(D3) ---
11(D4) 22(PC0)
12(D5) 23(PC1)
13(D6) 24(PC2)
14(D7) 25(PC3)
15(BKLT+) 29(PC7)
16(BKLT-) GND

And i think for LM324,
Vcc is 4 and
Gnd is 11.
IR led sould be connected in forward bias and photodiode in reverse bias.

hi pratheek,
please tell me where the push buttons need to be connected.
THE THREE just appearing above the robot near the LCD...
it will be really helpful to me ..... if u reply as soon as possible!
