Dear all,
i would like to ask, how could the robot could differentiate between human and a thing... for example
the robot inside the house is in a location and faced a chair in the livingroom, how could it know if it is a chair or a human....?????
regards.

You could use some kind of infrared detector, and check for body heat. But that wouldn't differentiate between animals and humans. Also, you might have some problems when it's hot out, but I'm not sure how much that would affect things.

thnx very much for ur reply.... :D:D.... i do appreciate it
but about the problems what could it face...... :)
another thing,
if there is fire inside the house ... and a thief enters the house while its on fire.. how could the robot identifies anyone entering by force......
i knw its silly.. but i need it for my graduation report.. please help... :)

Geeze that thief must be crazy!
I would think the fire would be much hotter than the person, but I think the infrared sensor would be completely overloaded if there was a fire. Hmm, I don't know how you could detect a person during a fire.

Put out the fire then look for the person?
If the robber were to break into the burning building then maybe the robber would have to break glass to do so, I suppose you could pick out the sound of shattering glass while sitting in the fire that is engulfing you.....

does it really matter? If your house is on fire, everything will be destroyed anyway :P

But the fire itself might break the glass as well. With all of the falling debris and stuff...

Let the robot search for the smell of well done roast and give the now crisp (and smoke poisoned) thief his Darwin Award with a big thank you note.
Gee, if only teaching institutions would keep to sensible real life challenges.
