Hey, in the Build your first robot tutorial, the author talks about contacting companies for free samples. But what if they investigate your "company"? In my situation I'm building a robot for a highschool project... do u think that i can ask my teacher if the school can be the "company"? or would they be generous and give me free samples in return for an advertisement on my robot, which buy the way would be on display. Does that idea work?
Thnxs

1) Most companies are too big to worry about investigating stuff like that so you dont have anything to worry about that
2) You could enter "StinkyPileOfPoo" into the company name box and no one would be the wiser :)
3) just make sure you dont try to use a generic email address because they simply will just not let you register with that email so if you have a webspace that offers an email address or something like that use that instead. Or if you have an email at school you can use that as well

True BUT on this website... i believe its Microchip (thats the manufacturer) they say that they'll investigate you before u get your samples... unless u HCD kno a good company for freebies ;)

Honestly just say you are a school project and put the name of the school down for the 'company' and if microchip can't spare a few samples... well then they are heartless bastards ;)

Fairchildsemi once called me to investigate.
But they didnt ask for any proof, they just wanted to know why I wanted the MOSFETs (after they already shipped them to me).
So I just told them it was for a prototype robot motor controller ;D
