Title: Motor suggestion?
Post by: gwestwater on November 16, 2011, 12:22:49 PM
I am looking to build a 3 "leg" robot each leg with it's own treads. I would like to have 1 motor set per tread that can carry between 100 - 200 lbs (so needs high torque) the catch is I would like it to be small the entire unit should be the size of a size 12 shoe (us units). Top speed is not important 2 - 4 mph will be fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What size will your rollers be?

I haven't seen any shoe shaped motors lately :) but a brushless motor 63mm in diameter x 79 mm length (sans axle) able to suck up 2.7kW (continous rating) sounds like more than you need, so it shouldn't bee too hard.

Thank you for your reply I have not picked a roller yet thought that the motor would dictate that I am thinking of using dewalt motors from some power drills
