Laser TOF rangefinder chip

This is of academic interest only IMO, but it gives some insight into the technology.

The ACAM time-to-digital converter chips appear to have all the processing needed for a time of flight pulsed laser radar/rangefinder. Laser, detector, optics, display are external.

Very impressive. In the case of using this, how does the laser detector work?

Holy crap. That's exactly what I need. The question is, where the heck do I get one? And how the heck do I interface with it?

I wish I was better with electronics. The details of that datasheet look like Chinese to me.

It just descibes the different components needed for the laserdetector to work...

The evaluation system probably costs several $k, and would take me weeks of full-time study with lots of phone calls to Germany.
