help needed on motorcontroller

hi
i am using a 12v ,50mA dc motor for my line follower to drive the motors im using a
L298n ic as the ic is for 2amps will it matter if i use 50 mA dc motor with it???

No, the 2Amp rating is the Maximum current the L298 can safely handle. Anything lower is just a piece of cake for the L298.

Wow, 50mA is minute! How big is this robot?
As waltr said, take the stall current of the motor, if this is lower than the motor drivers limit its all good so, yes.
