HAi..
I'm a beginner in robotics...Right now I'm working on a micromouse...I have run into a problem now...I'm trying to buy sensors for my mouse....I'm thinking of using IR leds and a TSOP receiver...But while searching on net i came across a lot of IR leds n TSOPs....I find it hard 2 select a pair...Like I don't know if the IR leds I choose will be compatible with the TSOPs, which again I'll be choosing...
So somebody please help me do the selection....
Tanx in advance.... :)

You need to ask yourself 'what are your sensors actually sensing?' . . . and also tell us that too :P
You should consider expected range, expected external interference, update rate, cross interference between sensors, etc. There is also whether you want surface mount or through hole types . . .the list goes on.

O thats a tough 1.... Well these sensors are actually used as proximity sensors on the wings of the micromouse...so that it can sense the top of the red wall 2 keep it going...reflectin surface close as 5 mm... about 10 mm wide...I guess that would make it more accurate .....
Tanx.... :)

If you really don't know the answer to those questions, I recommend just buying a bunch of different types and trying them all out. You can get like 10 different types for ~$15 including shipping. Then just decide which gave the best results.
