« on: April 29, 2010, 06:36:11 AM »
hey guys,

please tell me how can i control servo motor initially and then later my whole robotic arm through myoelectric signals?

i mean i want the robotic arm to mimic my arm.?

any other sugestions are also welcome.

thanks

The standard procedure for controlling electronics with your mind is to think one thing over and over until the computer can find a pattern in the output signals.

I'm guessing you can use a similar technique with your arm signals.

Agreed.  For example, you could think of the color blue to make the arm do one thing, then think of red to do something else.  Basically, when you think of blue, certain parts of your brain activate, and when you think of red, certain other parts activate.  If these parts are different enough, the computer will be able to tell the difference, and you'll be able to control stuff.  Of course, since red and blue are both colors, it might not work, but you get the idea.

I think he is referring to the electric signals that muscles receive, not brain patterns. You know... as in the sensors used in prosthetic devices.

Oh, that'd be cool, but probably really expensive?  Also, aren't huge companies spending millions of dollars to do this type of research?  I don't think just anybody will be able to build a robot like this...

Now using brain patterns, that's possible, you just gotta hack that one magnetic game that came out a while ago.  I forget what it's called.

How are you going to probe the signal?

http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+measure+myoelectric+signals

Sensor -> voltage amplification -> signal rectification -> ADC of microcontroller

In other words, zilch, when it comes to actually doing anything about it.
Our help comes when you are working on it and reaches a hurdle, we're not the ones taking your exam!
You have to do your own foot work, either go to Google, or better, use a cluster search engine to get the grips on what you need to do.

He's trying to say that this is an internet forum and there's only so much that can be done over the internet.
Remember, the internet is a tool (as are computers for that matter) and just like any other tool it has to be utilized, not depended upon.

Good luck though as I think this kind of thing is going to be a big leap forward for humanity.

What Soeren means is that we can help you, but you haven't yet stated where you're stuck at :P

Just read everything in the google link, design your system, and when you're stuck, explain what you have and we'll get you from there.
