Does anyone use Bluesmirf in conjunction with wireless camera
« on: October 30, 2010, 10:21:32 AM »
I have just ordered the Bluesmirf bluetooth module, and want to use it in conjunction with a wireless camera (eventually  ;) ).
Having read the bluetooth tutorial, I am a little concerned that my camera, which uses 2.4 GHz, will interfere with the Bluesmirf.
Has anyone had any such problems?

The bluetooth module should frequency hop until there is no interference - it's why bluetooth is so expensive.  It should be fine, but test it out and tell us if there are any problems.

Thanks for the advice, rbtying. Just waiting for it to arrive now, and then I'll test it. Cheers.

If the wireless camera is of low quality, it can flood the 2.4ghz channel with data and the bluesmirf won't be able to communicate properly. Just something to watch out for. People flying RC planes typically don't put 2.4ghz cameras because they often glitch out the 2.4ghz radio system and cause planes to crash.

Thanks for that, Razor Concepts.

Tell me about it.
I put a video camera on to my Belt CP helicopter (2.4GHz) a few years ago. Bad mistake :'(
At least my bot won't have far to fall, if it does get interference :D
Fortunately, the cameras do have 4 selectable channels within the 2.4GHz band range.
