I got this in my email today. I figured some of you would be in the area . . .

children), parking free

Join us on Sunday 19th June as the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune
takes you into the future, with an event featuring battling robots, technical
challenges and cutting-edge technology.

Cheer on competitors from the BBC smash hit TV show Robot Wars as they
battle it out in the arena. Robots such as Behemoth, Big Nipper and Storm II will
be in destruction mode, and watch out for the infamous Battleaxe, a robot with
steel claws, a heavy hammer and 500kg of thrust. Expect lots of action and lots
of noise!

Head outside and see if you’re brave enough to meet our giant animatronic robot,
or instead meet a team of robot footballers and find out how they’re programmed
to save free kicks!

Join our expert scientists in the tech zone to learn about their cutting edge work,
from bionic hands to particle physics, and get hands-on with technology yourself.
Have you ever wondered about the science behind the hula hoop? Our experts
will reveal all, and you will have your own chance to build you own perfect hoop.
Budding electronic engineers can take a seat in the Madlab area and try their
hand at soldering circuit boards to make their own mini jumping robot or wind
generator (extra charges may apply for materials).

The museum’s own staff will test you with a technical challenge - can you build
your own machine, and how far will it travel? Or can you pull off a hoax in our
Fake Your Own UFO activity?

Entry to the event includes access to all that the National Museum of Flight has
to offer - including four hangars packed to the rafters with military and civilian
aircraft, Scotland’s Concorde, and three interactive galleries full of hands-on fun
in Fantastic Flight.
