50$ robot microcontroller

hi guys, i wondered if there were any other microcontroller that could replace the ATmega8 in the 50$ robot, cause i have some shipping problems with exact that one.

if anyone could help is it greatly appreciated

an atmega168 or the new atmega328 are pin compatible with the atmega8, you could use those.  The only difference is the 168 and 328 have more memory.  What exactly is the shipping issue?  There are plenty of places you can order an atmel chip.

that i dont want to ship from more than one company, and the one ive found in Denmark (were i live), didnt sell that exact one.

and its quite hard to find companies in denmark that is selling electronics.

would the programming code thing given in the $50 robot need to be changed if i were to use an atmega328 instead of an atmega8?

nope same programming language C.... if you can't find an atmega look for a basic with the same number of dip pins you could learn to prgram basic pretty easy
