I bought this IR sensor yesterday from a shop. its number is "OS 0650" this is the only sensor type they had.top of the sensor is like a lens.I tried to find a data sheet for this but it seems "OS 0650" does not exist.
or is this sensor is known in some other name? if anyone identify this please help me to find a datasheet.
here are two pictures of it.
thanks

I think that this is an IR led....
But it also maybe an IR sensor...
Try applying 3V with a resistor and see with a mobile camera if it's lit....
-
it is a IR sensor.what i need is to find a data sheet
-
EEggrr... you don't need a datasheet... use it as a simple photo transistor....
-
no i need to find how sensitive is it and what are range of IR it can be use with
thanks

It's an IR photodiode... the more IR the bigger the reading you get... aka it's an analog sensor....
These are affected by sun light so be careful with that...
They are the cheapest sensors to use.... and they are nice for making a Line follower...
That's all....
You need to invest some time into it... to make it have trust worthy readings....

what was the point of asking what it is if you already knew, aruna1?

Hi Lefteris,
It's an IR photodiode... the more IR the bigger the reading you get... aka it's an analog sensor....
IR is not just IR, and important things like the peak wave length, angle of half intensity etc. can be quite important match to succeed.
Aruna <- Doesn't it contain any other writing/marking than "OS 0650"?
-
nope,no other writings just"OS 0650"

Hook up a multimeter to it on the resistance setting, and see what happens depending on the amount of sunlight applied to it.
