Any material is allowed, although legos has a lower 'coolness' factor :P

they are cool, but a lego robot will still look like a toy.

I have built Lego robots that I could never have built with regular parts. Not without a shop and lots of headache...

sometimes legos look better than the scrap junk robots you guys make. to be honest, i dont like things that look like toys, i actually love the way the wires hang out and all but comon, the objective is to make a robot, i didnt know it had to be out of cardboard and pieces out of my toy radio to be considered "cool". i highly hope legos arent discriminated against when i enter in the competition, i mean geez they can be just as useful with the correct ideas.

and i thought this was a hobby forum, for people who are "student-like" moneywise and dont have "shops" laying behind their houses, legos are extremely versatile mechanically and everyone has access to it.

I highly recommend people to buy a sheet of plastic and learn how to cut out your designs and drill holes. If you ever want to be an expert, this is a skill you will need to learn anyway . . .

As for legos, it tends to fail the shake test - shake it real hard and see if it still works :P
I will look down on any design that fails the shake test, lego or not . . .

Oh really? Fine with me. I'll have a shaking portion in the video just for you. I better see the other robots shaken just as hard lol.

How about buying some "crazy glue" and glue the lego together before the video demo.

Just joking.... I wish all of you good luck, even the lego robot builder. ;D

In the past Ive used the legos with those big holes in the center, and used zip ties to hold everything really tight using those holes.

Ive made quite a few lego bots in the past, I should probably upload the videos one day . . .
