Speech Recognition circa 1968
« on: May 04, 2007, 02:33:37 PM »
Robots were more advanced than I thought back in the '60s . . .

Video describing research in speech recognition at Stanford circa 1968:

The video is a little misleading in that the vocabulary set was really really small, but otherwise their similarity based algorithm 'worked 90% of the time.' They also had edge detection detecting multiple objects with a robot arm . . .

I cant imagine building robots with the tools they had back then . . . painful!!!!!!!

edit: youtube suggested an interesting video to compare speech recognition to todays standards
