Hate Instructables? Me too. Here's the cure.
« on: January 10, 2011, 08:31:59 PM »
Anyone else hate the multiple pages, ads, pop-ups and shear crap on Instructables?

It even gets past Ad-Block pro!

Anyway, check this out.

Want to see an instructable, like the Tweet-a-pot?

Here's the link:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Tweet-a-Pot-Twitter-Enabled-Coffee-Pot/

crap. pages to click through, can't see the pics without signing up. Goodness

Time for some Instructabliss!

Put that link at the end of this link:

http://daid.mine.nu/instructabliss/?url=

so it looks like:

http://daid.mine.nu/instructabliss/?url=http://www.instructables.com/id/Tweet-a-Pot-Twitter-Enabled-Coffee-Pot/

There we go! look how much better that is! I can enjoy instructables once more! No ads, all the pics, all on one page!

that is great, it make instructables worth reading and informative unlike having all the adds there.

I think i will be spending a lot more time there from now on.

Hi,

Very nice find!  ;D
I was growing so tired of all the "Sign up and pay us if you want the goods that other people provided for free".
(Do people really pay for a "pro account" to put their material there? As smart as the WOW concept.)

Plus it was loading down the browser.

Thanks!
Regards,
Søren

Isn't SoR or other forums like it, that save us from bad "ideas" as the Instructables....

Thanks for the find man ;-)

It was really sad to see Instructables commit suicide to their website like they did . . .

I still like instructables. I actually paid the $10 a year or whatever it is. I would have been happier to have it for free, but there is alot of decent content on there in a BROAD variety of topics. As opposed to having to know what I want to do (when I'm bored), I can browse and be inspired by other's random projects. It may not be for some, but for me, it works. I like being able to download a PDF without ads and just do whatever is listed.

Haha I remember the "good old days" of Instructables. Your ERP tutorial is actually what lead me to SoR.

Instructibles got greedy. Yes hosting is a pain but they would be 10 time bigger if they had not piled on a ton of annoying ads and created the pro account. I don't care about ads but they go to far. I have so much trouble reading the pages that I don't bother. I used to spend HOURS there now I only go if someone recommends an amazing one. I'll have to try this out maybe I can spend more time there.

Now if I could just get pdfs again so I could load up my ipad and dig in later.

You can get pdf's from the pages that you can get through the script, but unfortunately it doesn't work with all their pages :(

True it doesn't work with all pages :epic-fail:

And it was good.
