Home Security
« on: October 05, 2008, 09:26:23 AM »
Hi, Im designing a kinda home security bot, it will patrol around obsticle avoiding, it records data as its patrolled and sends it somewhere else safe away from the possible thief  ;D! up to this bit i am fine and have done.

However i want it to actually know when its seen someone, e.g. and let off a siren to scare them off etc..

Thought of thermal cameras but kinda pricey..

Anyone any ideas as to what i can use, id like to keep it pretty simple and if possible  :)

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Thanks

a PIR sensor,
these are also used for robots that should follow  people around.

   +1 Admin.

What are you working with, Togo5?  Are you planning on making a self contained bot, or is it going to be a auto-remote control?

I have a few suggestions since I've had in the works a similar project for a little while now, done some trial and error. (I even had the very first security bot I made stolen). But posting suggestions with out knowing your plan,  might overwhelm this thread so. Do you know what you have in mind.. some wish list of the specs, features, sizes, might be useful.

Sorry to hear about the theft, but that's funny  :D   The very definition of irony.

It's kinda like having your fire-fighting bot accidentally burn down your garage.

Yes I did realize the tremendous irony in my situation, and I think your comparison, Archman, is by far the best, funniest I have ever heard. And trust me... I think I have heard them all... my friends wont let me live it down...  :P

Hell that out to be my next entry for the tshirt contest.

"My dog walking bot ran away, My Rover sentry bot got stolen, and my fire-fighting bot burn down my garage... So what do you mean by 'whats wrong~!"
