XCEED – the all India level Robotics Fest
« on: December 10, 2009, 07:43:51 AM »
Kurukshetra, the annual technical festival of the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai takes a pan-Indian avatar with this edition of XCEED – a pre-Kurukshetra Robotics event. With the view of bringing Kurukshetra very close to the participant’s own city and to provide the local crowd a flavour of what Kurukshetra – the only student managed fest to be under the patronage of UNESCO - is all about XCEED was started right from the maiden year of K!. Previous editions saw teams from across the country fight their opponents on the football pitch, showcase their robot's intelligence by getting it to solve a line maze, and many more challenges. For more details log on to www.kurukshetra.org.in/xceed

This year XCEED is to kick start in Bangalore on the 13th of December. Among the events lined up for XCEED are the K!onstructor and the Line Tracer. In K!onstructor the objective is to bring down an old building (a structure made of cubes) and take the debris for recycling to a dumping area. Line Tracer puts the participant’s skills to build an autonomous line follower robot that can complete a given track in the least possible time. The qualifying teams from the regional rounds of XCEED then get to compete at the National finals to be held in January (21st to 23rd) at the College of Engineering, Guindy. Last year, in fact, the Bangalore zone finalists went on to win the Nationals.

XCEED also sees the regional round of the Business Quiz. The finals will take place in January at the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. Dr. Navin Jayakumar of the Landmark quiz fame and Mr. Gopal Kidao of Quiz Foundation of India (QFI) will conduct this much speculated and eagerly awaited event.

The venue for the Banglore edition is:
R V COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,
R.V. VIDYANIKETHAN POST,
MYSORE ROAD,
BANGALORE - 560 059.
