hey I was wondering what is the best soldering station that I could get for $100.

I found some resonably priced soldering stations at http://www.madelltech.com/m3-8.html The Problem is I don't know which soldering station is better than another one

(www.howardelectronics.com) These guys are the absolute best and most knowledgable resource for selecting the right soldering iron for your needs. They just also happen to have good prices as well, but noone will be better to advise you than these guys!

Why is it called a rework station and why is there two soldering irons?

one to get rid of the solder and one to put it back
aka rework the pcb

many soldering stations have a hot air soldering iron, where you literally solder with hot air coming out of the end of a nozzle, they are good for re-working on stuff where solder is already present and you just melt it, but a real iron is a lot easier for soldering fresh components - in my opinion.
Also if it has an hot air iron, you can probably work smd's easier

Is there a difference between the one that I posted and the one you posted? The one from gsm seems to be much cheaper.

hmmmm not sure . . . the one in the pic above looked exactly like what I have so I posted it . . . but this morning I checked the actual model and linked it . . . maybe its cheaper because it doesn't come with something?

Why to spend money on a soldering station and not a soldering gun... I just bought this Weller and it's perfect... The station which is this black box is made by me... Just some connectors and a toroid coil and you are free to go...
Build time... less that half hour!!! The temperature is controlled by the tips... The tips are act as thermostats... So different tips.... different temperatures!!! There are classes... You usually use class 7 which is 320+ C if I'm right...
Anyways, good luck to you... a good soldering gun is everything!!!
BTW beware... the tips from the soldering gun you buy must be changeable!!!

WOW, my mom ordered me a Weller soldering station for my b-day! Definently a big step up from my dads 30 year old soldering iron! AWSOME ;D ;D ;D 8) here it is http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/weller/solder/wes51.htm it'll be nice not haveing to w8 5 minutes for it to heat up.

The soldering iron operates at 35W@12V, 50W@24V, 45W@42V!!!
I use a toroid coil for stepping down from 220V to 24V!!! It heats up in less than 20 secs!!! And the tip is very nice for handling both SMD and DIP!!!

Just for information, what I have is just the soldering gun not the station!!!
