Hi. As you have rightly guessed, I'm a complete newbie. The $50 robot is exactly what I'm looking for to start me off into a world of electronics, programming and robot building.
Soooo, I'm looking for a ATmega8 but I'm not having much luck finding one at a reasonable price. I have found this ATMEGA168V-10PU or ATMEGA168-20PU. Is this suitable for me to build the $50 robot. I have tried looking at the datasheets to compare, but to be honest I have no idea which elements I'm supposed to be comparing.
Also in the parts list there is a .1uf ceramic capacitor. As I'm from the UK I am using the British parts list.
http://www.societyofrobots.com/step_by_step_robot_british_parts.shtmlIn the description of the part it says 100pf.
Using this calculator
http://www.translatorscafe.com/cafe/units-converter/electrostatic-capacitance/calculator/nanofarad-%5BnF%5D-to-farad-%5BF%5D/ that says that 0.1uf is equal to 0.0001pf. Is this a typo and should be 100nf?
Also, Is there a list of servos that can be modified to work as well as the HS311? If not what sould I look for when buying a servo other that a HS311?
Thanks
