Please no questions , just write the tutorial you want me to write up.
Pick one :
Hacking the Wild Planet Agent Tracker
Using RGB LEDs
BlueSMIRF Module Tutorial
MK2 ISP Programmer Common Errors and Solutions
Seemingly-Complex Robots with Vista Voice Recognition and AT&T Text-to-Speech
Visual Basic for Computer Robotics
M8870 Tone Decoder Tutorial
The LED Flasher tutorial - bring in more advanced concepts, blinking too fast , PWM, etc.
Forward vs. Backward Wheel Drive
So far I think I'm going to do "Using RGB LEDs"
I will make my final choice at 8 PM EST .(right now its 7:14 PM EST)
Thanks,
Eric

I think, from a forum point of view, and for newbies, that a AVR ISP MKII tutorial and debugging guide would be great. We get loads of posts about different coloured flashing LEDs. This is a major downer for new folk - ie - built the board - but just cant do anything with it.
Then you could do your preferred tutorial on how to make RGB leds flash all by yourself once your programmer is working ;D
-
Second that. I am still having trouble downloading code using my STK200 programmer using anything other than Bascom.
-
The more questions, of a similar nature, that we can head off before they are asked. Means happier robo-folk and more time to write more advanced tutorials.
But Ro-Bot-X's post shows how the problem is made more complex. ie STK200 vs AVRISPMKII. But thats where a tutorial can help - it may not cover everything from day 1: but can be expanded with time to include/cover various programmers. Otherwise people search the forum, get loads of hits, cant be bothered to go through them all.
-
Sorry for the dbl post but....
Unless people can program their chips then all the other tutorials become kinda useless to them.
-
aight MK2 it is
I'll be writing a basic tutorial and also scanning the forums for common problems and there solutions
Should be ready by Monday morning
-
I'm trying to write the tutorial in a general way but also adding examples for the ATmega8 and ATmega168. Any other microcontrollers I should use as examples?

I guess the only other one likely to come up is the Axon - but maybe you want Admin to fill out that section.
By and large its all the same principle - other than fuse settings

PIC16F877A if possible please :)

i've always wanted a tutorial on voice recognition, just for like Q+A and stuff. Sorry if theres one on this forum and i've missed it, but i think that would make a cool tutorial.
Thanks
Joe

I"m working on the MKII programming tutorial

Can you also include in your tutorial avrdude? :)

6 months of selling the Axon and not a single question about this asked yet.
I call it pre-emptive answers:

Perhaps what we really need is a $50 Robot FAQ. I haven't seen a question about the $50 Robot that hasn't been asked a million times before since last summer . . . Whenever a question comes up, add it to the FAQ. 24 pages (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?action=search2;params=YWR2YW5jZWR8J3wwfCJ8YnJkfCd8MiwzLDQsNSw2fCJ8c2hvd19jb21wbGV0ZXwnfHwifHN1YmplY3Rfb25seXwnfHwifHNvcnR8J3xyZWxldmFuY2V8Inxzb3J0X2RpcnwnfGRlc2N8InxzZWFyY2h8J3wkNTAgcm9ib3Q=) has gotten hard for beginners to sort through . . .
I seem to remember Webbot sending me a long email telling me we needed a $50 Robot FAQ, and I 100% agreed, then nothing got written :P

Perhaps a whole forum section on "the $50 robot" could be useful aswell. Its been mentioned before and would do alot of us alot of good. :)
Regarding the tutorial selection, i agree with the AVRISP MKII programmer tutorial, it would be byfar the most useful and used topic of the bunch.
If by any chance sometime in the future... could you also make an LED blinking/flashing tutorial?... please :) i think that would be really kool...(just out of curiosity) would that include learning how to make a dot-matrix type thing also?

I already finished the MKII tutorial a while ago - http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/290
Next time I get some free time I'll post a topic regarding what I should write.
