Admin is going on travel for 6 weeks
« on: February 25, 2007, 07:04:12 PM »
So yea, good news, and bad news.

From March 11th to April 22nd I will be on travel. Abridged list of the places I will be visiting:
Caltech in LA, Berkeley near San Francisco, Italy (for ICRA robotics conference), Germany, France, CMU in Pittsburgh, and a robotics company in Ohio.

Good news: I will be visiting robotics labs in many of these places, making connections, competing in a robot contest, and getting ideas for new SoR tutorials.

Bad news: I will not have time to write tutorials or help answer questions on the forum. So Im pleading for everyone (especially the experts) to help each other out. When I get back, I will of course be overloaded with catching up in email and forum posts, so it may take a week more for a return to normality . . .

Bonus - Ill bring back tons of video and pictures of robots around the world to share with everyone :)
I will also finally post part of my robot fish, which I have kept a secret for so long . . .

Lastly, if anyone is located in any of those cities/countries and wants to meet up and talk about robots, contact me!

Does this mean you won't be finishing the step-by-step $50 robot tutorials 3 and 4 by mid-March? :(

Fear not, Ive made this my number 1 priority. Short of my circuit exploding, I will finish it before I go.

FYI, I wired up the circuit today and took tons of pics, but havnt tested it yet. If all goes well, I might have the electronics part done by this weekend.

Just letting you guys know Im still alive and all . . .

I finished my week trip in LA, San Jose, and San Francisco.

I also spent 4 days in Rome and 3 in Florence, Italy. Ill be leaving for Venice in about an hour . . . and after that Ill fly to Paris!

In Florence they had this really cool Leonardo Da Vinci Museum where they built replicas of everything Da Vinci scetched up. I took pics of a few of the really interesting ones (including his animatronic 'robot') and Ill post them when I get more time to spare.

Anyway, I got 20 more days to go for my trip in Europe, and almost a week more for another in Pennsylvania/Ohio, but Ill still make sure all runs smoothly till then. 8)

Another update on my travel . . .

I am currently in Rome at ICRA (International Conference on Robotics and Automation). Its really exhausting, spending about 10+ hours a day going to presentations and panels and networking and such. Internet is also unreliable and hard to get . . .

I got a few robot videos and pics from the conference Ill share when I get back.

Im learning a lot, but there are also a lot of poor quality presenations too . . .

10 more days left before all returns to normal . . .

pics from my trip!

Also, the robotics pics from ICRA 2007 can be found in the folder called 'Rome April 9th-14th.' When I get time Ill do a write up about the conference, as well as post videos.
