Cheap servos... too cheap?
« on: May 07, 2012, 04:56:11 PM »
I found a GWS S06STD servo (http://www.basicx.com/Products/robotparts/Servo1.htm), for less than half the price of a Futoba (http://www.servocity.com/html/s3305_std__metal_gear_bb.html) of similar specs. Is the GWS brand too good to be true?

Hi,

The GWS don't mention anything about metal gears and I'm certain they would if they had it. Further it has got bronze bushings, while the other has got ball bearings and metal gears, so the GWS may be cheaper, but if you compare it with a more identical type, this may shift.

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
