Post by: gaurav.p on July 30, 2009, 09:41:27 PM
is it possible that u can just stick this camera(using double sided tape and not with the uC) on the robot?would the signals from the camera hamper the functioning of the robot .

nope, the camera shouldn't interfere with any of the $50 systems, unless it emits some kind of light?

Hi,

[...] would the signals from the camera hamper the functioning of the robot .
More likely the other way around if any.

Yes, the quality and how far it will transmit. But that depends on whether you manage to make the 'bot itself electrically silent or not.
Screening, twisting leads, capping motors, perhaps a couple of LC-filters here and there are the solutions - but don't go to any length until you know there is a problem though.

Make sure whatever camera you buy is FCC certified and not some random overseas one. The vast majority of cheapo- 2.4ghz wireless cameras are not FCC certified, and they will flood the 2.4ghz band with the camera data and will overpower other 2.4ghz devices.

fcc is the united states control over any sort of communication device, basically it means a fcc certified device won't cause "harmful" interference

i know the EU has an equivalent of the fcc, i just don't know what it is called.  a majority of devices will adhere to fcc/EU standards.  Without their rating they can't be sold in the US or EU.  That's a very large world market, lots of places want to sell to that market so they'll make their devices fcc compliant.  To find out, the information would be in the user manual.  If you could find a pdf of the manual you'd be able to find out if it is fcc compliant or not.

FCC certification will be necessary coz it  reduces harmful interference .
presently i have found a company called as idoo (china based company )which has a godd variety of 2.4Ghz cameras with FCC and EC certification.i hope to buy a camera from their range .hope it will be helpful for me  :P
