What is the inverse kinematics equation?

Hey, I am the beginner of robot programming. I want to programe to let a robot arm with 2 joints  to reach a target automatically. Some one told me I neend to know the inverse kinematics, but I just found it is too hard for me. Can anyone help me out to give me a equation? Or is there a equation to my problem?

Ive mostly decided not to use inverse kinematics for my robot cause my microcontroller would take too long to calculate it (not tested, Im just assuming by the huge equations filled with arccos and squareroots) . . . I got a fuzzy logic method working last night, but I didnt run any useful tests on it yet . . .
