Title: Need SOR members help; Really cool PONG game.
Post by: madsci1016 on June 20, 2011, 06:22:05 PM
Hey guys,

A good friend of mine Patrick entered a contest on Instructables (yeah, i know, i hate that site too) and voting has started. I would be very appreciative if you could guys could look at the contest and vote for his entry. I would have posted here regardless, but now I really owe him since he's the one that told me about the recent WIRED contest and which project of mine I should enter. I won the contest.

The contest page is here: http://www.instructables.com/contest/led2011/?show=ENTRIES&sort=RECENT&limit=18&offset=36 (http://www.instructables.com/contest/led2011/?show=ENTRIES&sort=RECENT&limit=18&offset=36)

And this is his project:

It's a pretty cool 2 player Pong game built completely from scratch. Not your usual blinky LED.

So go to the site and click vote on his project. Thanks guys!!!

Cool project.  I voted for him. :)

Although I wouldn't say "from scratch".  It says right on the instructable that he bought things off of e-bay.  Maybe not for this project... but still.  From scratch for me is each one of those LEDs was put there one at a time by his hands.  lol

BTW: What's wrong with instructables?  I love that site.  Tons of cool projects.  Tons of really stupid projects.  You just have to weed through the bad to get to the good.

Well, I mean from scratch being he didn't just slap two arduino shields together and throw it in a plastic project box. This took some real work even using the LED matrix.

And I don't want to get into Instructables debate here; see this thread instead: http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=12984.msg96681#msg96681 (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=12984.msg96681#msg96681)

Ahhh ok you hate the ads and annoying things but don't mind the idea of the site.  Gotcha.  I signed up (for free) and it's not that bad.

O, I love the idea just not the overwhelming commercialism that changed it. It's annoying to look through now.
