The AIMEC EZ:2 Personal Robot
« on: November 14, 2013, 08:53:01 AM »
Our new series of advanced low cost EZ:2 robots that will also be available in kit form and are set to be a game changer for the personal robotics market.

Our mission is to develop and produce the EZ series of (ground breaking) personal robots that will be very affordable, with highly advanced features usually only found in research labs around the World, these include face and object recognition together with an advanced Ai core. The EZ robots will be available ready made or in a kit version that can be built by roboticists  hobbyists and students alike. The EZ robots are modular and simple to program so the user does not have to be a robotics expert. The EZ:1 shown here is the development platform for the commercial version (the EZ:2) which we will start beta testing early next year and we plan to start World sales in late 2014.

Here is a video of the first test trials on the new EZ:1 and EZ:2 low cost heavy duty arm using the specially developed worm driven "Smart Servos". As you can see its operation is virtually silent, while it has the ability to smoothly pick up reasonably heavy loads.

Here is the AIMEC:EZ1 head with (the prototype) single microcontroller controlling all the head functions via an I2C link also shown here is our face recognition and eye tracking system.

It's pretty cool that you're turning this into a product!

I'm a little suspicious of the backlash and flex in that arm assembly, though; it looks to be measured in whole inches...
Then again, it's probably not intended to be used for pick-and-place equipment :-)

@jwatte, thanks for the comments.

The EZ:2 body (commercial product) is completely different to the EZ:1 development platform shown above (not humanoid looking at all) and is more stable with the arm movement. For the EZ:1 we had a spare AIMEC:3 body so we used it as the dev platform.

Here is a video of our Ai (Artificial intelligence) core showing one important aspect of its self learning algorithm its "associated memory" capability.  This Ai core is to be integrated into the EZ:2 robots processing systems.

Ai Associated memory

First we see the Ai core's associated memory working on video input level - this video shows the core making associations from seeing a recognised face

The video also shows the Ai core making associations on its own general knowledge - it learns general knowledge by its "smart parser" using specialist Ai websites and also from its tutors (the primary user and system programmers)

The Ai core attempts to make associations by itself, any errors in associated data is corrected by the tutors.

Now our EZ:1 and EZ:2 robots can get you your favorite drink by vision alone!

The video does not show any capability like that at all. The video shows no capability to discriminate between different objects on a shelf or table or in a fridge -- it only shows the capability of discriminating an object placed by a human into a claw.

I'd be a lot more impressed if it could actually do what you say it can do. Can you show a video of that?

@jwatte

What is your problem, can you show that you have any tech like this?
