Title: help in emergency system

hi

i finished my project it's a toy boat that can travel from place to place by itself - using GPS tracking system - and avoiding any obstacle on its way - using ultrasound sensor & servo motor - but i want to add a a system where i can track it's movement and if any thing goes wrong i can send some kind of signal that make the ship go to the nearest land.

the project worked really good but i want to add an emergency system so if the boat is drifted away or something i can return it the nearest land coordinates determined by my PC so i want to know if there is anyway to send a current signal so the chip receive it and direct the chip to the emergency point?

Yes, you can send remote control signals. RC cars do this. Cell phones do this. WiFi computers do this. XBee serial controllers do this. Radio and TV transmission and receivers do this. You have to be a little more specific in what you need.
How heavy can the receiver be?
How long distance do you need to transmit?
How much current draw is allowable for the receiver?
What kind of interference must be taken into account?
What's your budget?
