FT232R
« on: August 31, 2008, 01:12:35 PM »
I made a quick schematic in paint for connecting an ft232r chip to a microcontroller so that i could program it using a usb cable. does it look okay? It's really sloppy  :P

I've been toying with a design for FT232RL lately.
I don't see much there, since it's lo res, but I'm looking for someone to discuss this with, and maybe figure out the 'right' way to do it.

Contact me over yahoo (it should work from msn too) - my id in my profile, so we can check.

the FTDI datasheets are really good.
i always just copy one of their application notes directly.

it should be in my profile (that's mostly for IMing)
if not, send to izua.richard at the gmail.com server or to izua at the izua.ro server.

i've got my ftdi today, can't wait to see it running.
as dunk said, the datasheets seem pretty good. they have examples for self-powered, bus powered and power switched configurations.

I guess I'll just use the self powered example in the datasheet.

I've tried making a small breakout board. Still have to solder that damn thing :P
