It would be cool if they make it do something other than just look around. Hopefully theyll make it be able to do things on its own

I am really digging the head there!

You should join the Wall-E Builder's Group!   www.Wall-EBuilders.com

There are over 500 members right now, and it wont be long and the group will be taking off!

GREAT JOB!

No...It's not mine.  If it was I would put my name all over it and a big fat pic of my beautiful mug!

I'm not that far yet.  I've been chomping at the bit trying to hold off a little longer before I start my actual build.  I was gung-ho until I found out that you can't accurately discern the measurements from the available information :(

But I really like how the head is looking here.  I think with the correct measurements this material would come out real nice!

I wonder if internal gears with a chain system would eliminate the jerking?  Or maybe some tough rubber bands to act like tendons??

I think I am going to put an AI system in the head like I did with my AI-Jawa.  Then Wall-E would follow people around the room and look at them without someone having to control his head.

This would free you up to control his movements without losing the look of autonomy.

Just a thought...like I have time for all that right now with the website :P

I *finally* saw Wall-E last night.

I really really enjoyed it - definitely admin approved. :D
(if that means anything to you, coming from someone who has a tendency to name his robots 'pikachu' . . .)

Here's my Lego prototype Wall-e robot (work in progress...):

P.S. The real version of it is what I need the Axon for...

Im guessing you made that with a kit?

The only kit I bought was Robotic Inventions System and that was in 2002. All other parts I have I bought them from the BrickLink. People sell their surplus Lego parts and buy other parts they need. Oh, I  also won a few more Mindstorms sets in different competitions. I have also bought custom made sensors for RIS from a company called Hitechnic. The treads I just got from BrickLink, but I think the new Bulldozer set has them. I like to prototype with Lego, then build a larger version. Most of the times it remains Lego, because of a lack of a machine shop and a CNC.

Just saw the movie yesterday. Loved it. It could do with out the screaming and crying baby 12 seats to my left throughout the whole friggen movie with stupid parents who laugh and giggle with/at it.... *** holes... but other than that I really liked. Its definitely a movie to take the wife/girlfriend to because you both will enjoy it... It totally accurately preditcs the future too :P except of course it started far too many years after it would actually happen but still. Great movie :) Dragon approved

As for building a Wall-E bot, after seeing that movie, I totally want to. That was one kick arse robot. Id build one if I had the resources and such. I can only afford things that are free :P... seriously.

But yeah, you should take a trick down to a junk yard near you and see what you can dig up. Might find some nice things to play with :) I would do the same thing but I dont feel like driving over there >_< I know, I know. Im bad.

Yeah, that's Disney's Wall-E robot to promote the movie. It is remote controlled like any other prop, R2-D2 and Johny-5 included.

But there are many people working on their autonomous Wall-E robot, me included. However, I will not build a real life size Wall-E. It's too big and I don't have the resources. I just want a smaller version, but as functional as possible. At first I wanted it to fold back to cube mode, but it seems it is phisically impossible (with the correct dimensions). After some Lego prototyping, I see that treads are really inefficient (in terms of energy) for a house robot. So, I think I'm going to use what I have for Wall-E and save parts for my future ballancing butler robot, "Eric the Third"...

I thought it seemed kind of lame. Its actions seemed really limited and very delayed... I dont know if thats just a not so great operator or what but im not really impressed with that one. Looks good and all but not very impressive otherwise in my opinion... needs work
