Hey guys, long time no post.
Anyway, I have a bunch of old rechargeable alkaline batteries. What is the correct way to charge them? I doubt they're still good, but it'd be cool none the less if I could get them charged for small things (remote controls etc) around the house.
I have a triton 2 charger that I use for my NiCds and NiMHs, but I REALLY don't want to try to charge these since I'm not sure if it'd hurt the charger or not.
I know that when recharging NiMHs, the triton 2 detects a voltage "peak" when the battery is fully charged, and this peak doesn't happen with rechargeable alkaline batteries. So, could I charge them but set the safety timer really low so they only get 80% of their capacity? (You generally set the safety timer to turn off when the charger has delivered 150% of the battery's rated capacity.) Or, could I charge them but sit and watch them? Or should I stop being cheap and just go throw them away and buy actual NiMHs? (I know that's the best option obviously)
TIA.

Hi,

You could have Googled that in 2..3 minutes, but here's a description (http://pureenergybattery.com/guide_methods.php).
I wouldn't expect too much of them though, as they don't like to be left to drain.

Don't use your Triton!
Read the paged I linked - thoroughly and until you understand it completely.
Then ask, if you cannot make a charger for it (or have a lab-PSU that could be used.

Thanks! I honestly DID google, pretty thoroughly too. All I found was "How to recharge NON-rechargeable alkaline batteries, and products meant to recharge rechargeable alkalines, not how those products work. I'm generally pretty good at finding things online, I was just stumped with this one.
Thanks again!
