Reversing Motors Using L293NE
« on: June 30, 2009, 09:18:46 AM »
hiya!

can the motor direction be reversed just using the L293NE. I'm basically trying to build an Obstacle avoiding bot by just using the L293 IC. Im using two IR sensor modules in the front for sensing. I just want my bot go backwards when it detects some objects. Rite now my bot stops a few cms away from the obstacle. Can the reversing be achieved?

(Ps:- Sorry if this sounds NOOBISH)

It looks like it can. http://www.chipcatalog.com/TI/L293NE.htm Scroll down to "typical application" and it will show you how

I got this off of page 9 of the data sheet. It shows how to control one motor bidirectionally using half of the L293. You can use the other half to controll the other motor.
