Title: Lithium Ion, Polymer, or Iron?

I don't know which to choose. Ion seems to be the 'standard', but polymer is more powerful. And what's the deal with Iron Phosphate ones?

Do the regulators differ for each?

Iron Phosphate look to be the future of lithium, since they are not as explosive as the other types. A123 systems are currently the largest supplier, and you can get cells for fairly cheap. They are very strong in terms of surviving bad-charging and over discharging.

Unfortunately, it's 3½ years old - a lifetime when talking the evolution of the Lithium basedd cells.

I've read that iron ones need a special charging circuit that's different from the other two. And these seem to be expensive to buy.

Is that true and if so, what is a good place to look for schematics?

Just spend $35 to get a universal charger, you will be using it for years.

Well you see, the problem is that I'm trying to go for a solar recharging type of thing, all built into the robot. (Yeah I know,  I know, I just want to)

So having an universal charger is really not an option (as far as the robot carrying it around) but I think I may get one anyways, because I can see it coming in handy quite often.
