Having trouble programming 50$ robot?!?!?
« on: August 16, 2007, 09:57:28 AM »
I have been working through the 50$ robot tutorial and, after several attempts, i finally completed the microcontroller.  I bought the avrisp2 programmer and downloaded the photovore code, but when i try to program the ATmega8,  i get this message:

Reading FLASH input file.. OK
Setting mode and device parameters.. OK!
Entering programming mode.. OK!
Erasing device.. OK!
Programming FLASH ..      OK!
Reading FLASH ..      FAILED!
Leaving programming mode.. FAILED!

this problem is addressed in this post: http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=1350.0,
but i cant seem to get it to work.

I have been adjusting the isp frequency every time i try to redo it, but i always get the same message

the servos do rotate randomly every once in a while, but they dont seem to be effected by the photocells

all this tells me is that i should have a little hope

someone please help!!

thanks

josh ???

if i uncheck the "verify device after programming" box, it doesnt have any errors, but it only drives straight.  i dont know if the sensors arent working correctly or if its still a problem with the programming.
someone please help

thanks
josh

Hmmmmm I have never seen this error before . . . you didnt change the code, right?

Strange that it moves despite that error . . . So its driving properly, just not turning? Do you have a multimeter to check if the sensors change output voltage with light? Im assume you double checked the wiring . . .

There is a good chance you perhaps changed the clock in the fuses. Did you check/change any of the fuse boxes?
