you need to clear that up for me do you mean that the microcontroller had a motor driver and you couldn't find any?

See http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list.shtml for parts.

You COULD use a Basic Stamp - but that is NOT what the $50 robot uses so the rest of the tutorial, and its software downloads, wont work.

My first robot used a basic stamp; granted it was a BOE-bot, but it worked fine for me.  Why would you not want to use it (has it got worse, since I used it)?

Anyway, if you're looking for something simple and compatible with the $50 robot, try airman00's Roboduino (I've heard very good things about it).  Everything's plug-and-play, for the most part; so it can't get much easier than that.  :)

This web site here basically holds your hands while walking through the $50 robot tutorial  ;)  Try reading the $50 robot tutorial again.

well if you want a micro with a motor driver you should just get the micro controller and a motor driver instead.as for the leds  ???

All microcontrollers can control LEDs.. you just set the pin to high or low to turn the LED on or off.
