Title: Programming to recognize items

I am programming my robot to recognize plastic cups. I did some research and came across this: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/316 (http://letsmakerobots.com/node/316)

The question is, how would I incorporate into my program? I am using a Sharp ir sensor.

Which SharpIR sensor, and what microcontroller?  He's using a different sensor than you are, which makes things harder.

Microcontroller: PIC16F886

Sensor: Sharp GP2D12
