« on: May 23, 2007, 11:14:41 PM »
Ok so ive been skeptical about going the extra mile(money mile) to buy a humanoid robot. I've been looking on the net and it seems like every servo company and their grandma has one.SO what I'd like to know is what i shoud get. These are the ones that have caught my eye in order of what i like the most.

Bioloid Comprehensive kit-retail price- $850
http://robotis.com/html/sub.php?sub=2&menu=1

The Kondo KHR-2HV kit- retail price- $950
http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/3186-Kondo-KHR-2HV.aspx\

The Manoi AT01 and the PF01 retail price- $1,499 and $1,699 respectively
http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/4896-Manoi.aspx
http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/5234-Manoi-PF01.aspx

The Futaba RBT-1 kit- retail price- $1,699

The Hitec Robonova kit- retail price- $950

I use the Bioloid kit, and I think its great, for a number of reasons:

- servos are on a serial bus, and can be daisy-chained
- high torque servos (200 oz-in)
- servos respond with position, speed, temperature, voltage, etc
- serial bus is expandable - you can make your own sensors/actuators as bus devices

You can see what I'm working on here:
