I've just acquired an Armdroid 1, and aim to restore it to working condition. Does anybody recognise what type of power connector it uses (see photo), and even better, where I might buy one. This is a two pin socket, with a screw thread and an internal diameter of 1/2". Also, I'd love to hear from anyone else who has an Armdroid to swap notes.

Maybe it is a French-German-Russian power connector, but they don't have a screw thread.

Looks like an old Amphenol cir Mil connector .

I also have an Armdroid 1 which I'm currently restoring.
The power connector you need is a GX16 (it's a connector used in aviation industry, or HAM radio) 2-pin, 16mm. You can find these easily by searching eBay.
As mentioned, I'm currently restoring my Armdroid - which means I've pretty much stripped it right down and have been rebuilding and replacing broken/damaged parts as I go. I will be documenting my project on a Blog / website a little later this year. In the meantime, if you need any further information, please drop me an email.

By the way, in case you didn't know - the polarity of the power connections is ( - ) . ( + ) as looking at your photograph ( + 12 to 15v Right Hand Side )

Richard,
Thanks for the information about the GX-16 connector. Maplin, also confirm that the Locking multi-pole Linkage connector they sell is equivalent.
