Title: air muscle arm
Post by: Admin on August 24, 2007, 12:26:37 PM
this looks neat, although I suspect the video is manipulative to hide the failures . . .

Quote
The Airic?s_arm is a robotic arm fitted with artificial bones and muscles. The bone structure, consisting of the human bones such as ulna and radius, metacarpal bone and finger bone, shoulder joint and shoulder blade ? joints that do not occur as such in the technical world ? is moved via 30 muscles.

SON OF A BEE STING!

I had this same bloody idea a while ago... Damn...

though theres seems underpowered compared to what I was planning on doing... but still, its only a small matter of time until they work out the kinks in their devices...

Good work to them though.... :-\

This is one of the ideas I got along with the idea to use a tendon type of thing to control fingers and arms and such...

Just need to find elastic tubing.... Somewhere....

Shouldn't it be possible to give these guys a "blood" system that transports pressurized air with switches near the muscles instead of separate ducts to each muscle ?

Yes, it is posible. The only requirement is that the electric valves be small enough to be integrated easier in the apendage. Actualy, there is something else to be considered. If many muscles are activated from one main line, the presure can drop too much and they can lose strenght. Apropriate main line diameter has to be considered, also a big enough air storage tank, with a fast compressor.
