Title: autonomous path follower and obstacle avoider
Post by: ruffntuff007 on January 15, 2008, 08:19:13 AM
hello friends,

i am making a autonomous path follower and obstacle avoider, i want to use two servo/dc motors for two back weels and want to just attach a caster wheel for front wheet. so having a bot with three wheel , is any problem ?? what type of body should i build ????? ??? ???

OK first

what do you mean by path follower? what is the path?

three wheel bot is no problem.

I would recommend using HDPE for the material, buy it from McMaster

also what microcontroller will you be using? and what is your budget

hello friends,

iam making a path follower and obstacle avoidance system.i am new to robotics, i want to use two  dc motors for two rear wheels and a caster wheel in the front. So my bot is having two motors and a caster wheel, total three wheels. Is my idea good enough to proceed ???
Don't double post

an any one tell me how to connect wheels to a motor ???

a regular motor or a servo . And also which exact motor and which exact servo

as I said before McMaster.com

Also I would first build the robot and then program it.  :P

Also, what is the path that it is following???

its a servo hs-35 ,torgue 4 kg . now can u please tell me how to connect wheel to that motor ?? wheel  would be of  radius 2.5  cms.

a black electrical tape line?

lol

what is the path? out of what material , what color , what terrain    NOT what shape

Do some research before you ask questions like if three wheeled robots are ok.
The forum is FILLED with info on three wheeled robots...

search GOOGLE!!!!

here is a robot that admin made : (http://www.societyofrobots.com/images/mobot2007_bottom.JPG)

I am working on a robot with two wheels and two casters, basically just for balance and to make room for my line sensors

Do you know how to track a line already?

actually  one of my friend is dealing with the programming part. i have taken the job to design chasis and essembling. do u have any other pic with a more of front look ???

just search google for it , i am not going to

how will you be doing the sensors part?

If you want something cheaper than an omniwheel, you could also go with a ball caster.
