Title: remote controll

i am wanting to make a robot for paintball and airsoft warz...all i need is a remote that can move the robot (up.down.left.right) also aiming the gun up and down..then finaly the buttion to shoot it..but the only thing is ...i dont want to spend $120 on a controller to do all that...


i have an old ps1 that works great and also has a wirless ps2 that goes with it...if i take the receiver out of it and hook it up with that robot, will it controll it

are you talking about a mobile base or a stationary base here? a mobile base is going to probably be a little bit harder because i think the best way to control that would be wifi... you want this to be remote controlled but a problem of that is your going to need to see what your shooting at so thats going to be a camera on it to see or maybe a laser... The brains arent going to have to be 120$ but after you buy that part your going to have to invest in a fair amount of electronics... I would have to say for this if its your first dont do it and if I did it I would use a laptop based systems and use the laptop for my brains then use the wifi to another computer....
its going to require rather much programming and the mechanics are going to be a liitle rough to for this....  I think this could probably end up costing in the $300 range BUT you would have to do a lot of research before you started and make sure to not make mistakes...

there have been a few people who have done this, maybe copy one of them?
