AWESOME 3d camera using ladar...

Think of the applications you could use with this!!!

Use it in conjunction with roborealm (the z-camera for object avoidance / recognition, and the normal RGB camera for roborealm...)
Late 2008 they say, but they didnt give a sticker price.

Wow, while watching this, i actually forgot i got there through this site and thought "OMG, i got to post about this at SoR! This could be so useful in robotics!"

I believe it could actually be really useful in robotics. With this camera the robot could fully understand 3D shapes. Object recognition and object tracking could be much easier and it can really think in a 3D way.

If it's gonna be cheap enough i might actually get one for my EEE PC (i sure hope it's powerful enough to handle it).

there's lots of ways you can use that for anything you want to. like you said 3d shapes recognition is very useful for robotics.
BUT
simple navigating on a screen is definitely not one of them. every single remote control would be better cause you don;t need to point it directly, just press a button ;p
