« on: October 01, 2009, 01:03:46 PM »
Hi,
Can anyone please guide me,where can I find details of making very basic robot gripper(pincer). For the material I am thinking to use arclyic persiplex 2mm sheet (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2mm-Clear-ACRY...d=p3286.c0.m14) which can be cut by knife.I tired google but could not find anything.I will be using micro servo motor 1.6kg torque.

Thanks

Well there is not alot about gripper designs on this site as admin himself said at the end of the robotic arm tutorial but he also points out his card dealing robotic arm that goes into some detail about the gripper, so i thing that would be a good place to start.

I open sourced the robot gripper design on my ERP:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_ERP.shtml

Just download the files with the dimensions and print them out to scale.

It uses a single servo, and it ultra simple. You might have to find a power tool to cut your plastic, however. Knives are very limited :P

Very cool, are you going to produce these for sale?  It's hard to find grippers that grab more than a AA battery sized object, this looks like it could handle all sorts of stuff.

There are some decent ones on the market depending on your usage and needs.  But this one seems to be pretty unique.
