Robot Manufacturing/Construction Factory

Hi all,

I am an architecture student who is trying to design a factory where robots are assembled.
The robots designs are based around the Bigdog...

Now I have absolutely no idea what the process is..what kind of machinery is used etc...
I was hoping if anyone could please tell me what sort of machines are used, what processes are involved..
What an assembly factory may look like..
I imagine it to be a bit like a car manufacturing facility...

Ive seen videos of the bigdog, and clips where they are testing the legs, with the machine attached at the ceiling..its a bit of a teaser!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ive been struggling with this for weeks...

Are you talking about robot assembly line or a factory where robots are assembled , robot assembly lines are very complicated and take years to work out and understand .

 I am a 3rd year engineering student majoring in mechatronics and I am just starting to understand it now .

The machinery needed will depend a lot on the size and complexity of what is being assembled but also just how well it has to be assembled as every thing is done to a price .

To get an idea of the process is not that hard and all you need to do is imagine that you are an assembly robot and its just a matter of putting the parts together in the right order , for example if you was assembling a clock you are not going to put the case together first but you would put all the inner parts together .

Another way to look at it is to remember that robots are to replace human assembly so imagine how you would put a machine together .

As for the assembly of robots for an assembly line and machinery needed , that could take a lot of explaining and my explanation would probably be just as confusing to you .

Machinery used could be just as complicated and would depend a lot on the type of robot being assembled , it would also depend on weather or not you are just assembling the parts or making the parts as well .

I hope this helps a little but the question you ask is very broad and not easy to explain in a few sentences on a forum and I think a full explanation from me would be even more confusing to you
