Ok i got my board build but i want to know is there any other way to power the board, not useing a cord. And also my 9 pin adapter thing dosen't match up to the board. The board is G, , +5V,TX,RX and the adapter is RT,G,5V,RX,TX. What can i do??

The 9 pin connector's pins line up with the beginning end of the long header.

You can also rearrange the pins like the directions show.

That solves that problem but can i power it with out a cord. i want to play with it today and tomarrow and i can't get a cord for a wile.

You can power it with a 9V battery. Solder little wires to the underside of the power jack.

I tested the board and the light will not turn on.

I have done everything. I did all of the troubleshooting stuff. I m almost just going to buy a board already built but i don't want to wait on one and just give up. This was my first time ever soldering so that might be it $:-\$ . What are some other options?

Yeah. Not to be critical of a first time solderer, but you were a little heavy-handed with the solder. (You don't need to make little solder balls on the connection. A little works well. But soldering takes practice. I have decades of that.)

So first: Do not install the microcontroller in the socket.

Check that none of the soldered connections touches nearby connections.

It is tough for me to see part orientation in your picture, but I can see that the lower (in the picture) diode is in the right way. The upper diode (from the orientation of your pic) has the white/silver stripe on the right? The D-shape of the transistor - the flat side is "up"?

Move your jumper-header (little black "shorting block") to EXT on the 3-pin USB/EXT header on the left edge of the board. And the other (4-pin header near the power jack) should be to the right (again, with the board orientation of your pic).

The LED could be in the wrong way. If you look INTO the LED, you will see the metal of the leads inside. One is short, the other lead inside is longer and towers over the shorter lead. The shorter lead (what you see inside the LED) is oriented "up" - toward the end of the board with the power jack.

It looks from the image that you missed installing the square 15 uH inductor.

ya every things in the right way. My LG Dare has a hard time focusing in on the board so the pics look really bad. ill make shure the none of the solder is touching.

And you moved the shorting blocks to the right place?

With power applied, do you get 5V on pin 2 of the ISP header? (With respect to ground)

Do you get 5V on the GND/5V 2-pin header?

5V on the right pins of the big 3 by 7 header?

9V (or whatever your source voltage is) across one diode, but 5V across the other?

the 3 pin D shape transistor. a very little piece of solder on one pin was touching the pin next to it. I feel so stupid... I will be playing with it and dreaming up some ideas.

Thanks for all the help. Im working on a button right now and will try to get to use the motor or a servo.

I made 3 LEDs flash and also flash slow and get faster. i made a button all in like 5 min.

EDIT: i forgot to ask what are the A0-A5 pins for??

Excellent! This was using the free Arduino development environment and the bootloader in the chip, right?

Those are 6 pins of the microcontroller port C 0 - 5 that can be used as analog input or as digital input or as digital output. They are paired up with ground and +5V.
